Bell Asset Management Boosts Investment Team with 3 new hires

Bell Asset Management, a leading global equities boutique manager, is pleased to announce the expansion of its investment research team with three key appointments. This expansion underscores Bell Asset Management’s commitment to robust fundamental bottom-up company research. Bell Asset Management’s overall philosophy is to identify companies with sustainable competitive advantages that can consistently generate above average returns on capital.

Bell Asset Management has a successful track record spanning over two decades with assets under management now totaling over AU$5.2 billion.

Three Key Appointments to Investment Team

Reporting directly to Chief Investment Officer Ned Bell, Darshana Nair Syama assumed the role of Global Equities Analyst at the firm in late2023.

In collaboration with the broader investment team, Darshana will help drive the firm’s core “Quality at a Reasonable Price” investment framework. With solid experience in equity research and analysis, Darshana joins from Goldman Sachs where she worked for five years as a consumer, travel, retail, and gaming analyst. Previously, she worked at HSBC in India where she was responsible for covering the European media and satellites sector.

Bringing over a decade of investment experience, Johnson Weng was appointed as a Global Equity Analyst in January 2024. Johnson’s strong understanding of IT and Communication Services sectors, coupled with his experience at Kiwi Wealth and Mercer, positions him as a key asset in Bell Asset Management’s expanding investment team. Johnson's insights and analysis will play a pivotal role in shaping Bell Asset Management’s investment strategies and idea generation in the global equities landscape.

In January 2024, Bell Asset Management’ also welcomed Katrina Lee as an Equity Analyst. Katrina’s appointment highlights the firm's commitment to fostering young talent and further integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into its investment philosophy.

Chief Investment Officer, Ned Bell expressed his enthusiasm for the recent appointments stating:
