QIC’s Australian small cap investment team will shortly join Brisbane-based global investment business Channel Capital.

QIC agreed to divest its smaller companies capability after determining it a non-core business.

Channel Capital was spun out fund manager Solaris last year to branch out into providing infrastructure and back office services to investment boutiques. The staff-owned business continues to provide infrastructure services to Solaris.

The new business already boasts an agriculture offering, a global property fund (RRE Global Property Securities) and a global equities fund, and now the QIC team will provide a new Australian small caps capability to be known as Discovery.

Discovery will join Channel Capital with around $300 million in funds under management, Channel Capital partner Katharine Youhanna confirmed.
